Five Reasons to Share Hope and Gratitude this Holiday Season
As I return from our recent trip to visit our artisan partner Agape International Missions (AIM) in Cambodia, I continue to be humbled by their hard work on the ground to prevent child trafficking, but also their incredible efforts to rescue, restore and reintegrate survivors into their communities.
3Strands Shop, The Freedom Shop for Good
More than 20 million people are held in modern slavery globally including two million children exploited in the global sex trade. It is a horrific crime that feeds upon our most vulnerable.
3Strands Shop is a unique accessory brand that features products with a purpose. We provide job opportunities for survivors of human trafficking and those at risk.
In 2012, 3Strands Shop began to answer the call to help end this atrocity by providing jobs to survivors of human trafficking. Most importantly, 3Strands supports the feeling of hope, freedom and pride provided through employment and reintegration in their communities.
3Strands Shop was co-founded by Ken Petersen and Scott Jacobs as a social venture company to help provide hope for victims in Cambodia, and to help end this horrific crime. 3Strands Shop, “The Freedom Shop for Good,” sells and distributes products made by human trafficking survivors and those at risk in communities around the world.
“The mission of 3Strands Shop is to provide job opportunities to human trafficking survivors and those at risk,” said Ken Petersen. “For the past five years, 3Strands Shop has created sustainable employment opportunities to help rebuild the lives of the young victims in Cambodia, and now across the world in seven countries with hundreds of product offerings.”
What started as a simple bracelet line created in Cambodia to provide employment for survivors has grown into a global business model to employ survivors and help end the cycle in communities around the world.
Through product sales and awareness efforts, more than 500 survivors and at-risk women and young adults have become employed, and more than 200,000 products have been sold worldwide.
We invite you to get involved by purchasing products on 3StrandsShop.com, sign up for our blog and email updates, or like and share us on social media.
Believe it or not, many years ago Cambodia was a French colony with many Chinese immigrants, and is influenced by the Japanese, European and Vietnamese cuisine. Are you thinking what we are thinking? Yep - In Cambodia you will find French, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and European foods! Rice and freshwater fish play huge roles in the Cambodian diet because there is such an abundance of both. Do not overlook Cambodia when it comes to their cuisine. Once you read about the most popular Khmer meal AND try it, you will not be able to resist.
